Hello Ruby programmers

August 3, 2006

This site is a prototype of an on-line Ruby Language Reference. As I set out to write a Ruby compiler for my own use, I found that the existing Ruby documentation, including the Pickaxe book, Ruby in a Nutshell, the documentation included in the Ruby distribution, and (last and worst) the Ruby interpreter code – all have serious drawbacks or limitations. I was left wishing for a single concise, accurate, and comprehensive specification of the Ruby language. The purpose of this site (rubylang.wordpress.com) is to explore ideas for the format and organization of an on-line Ruby Language Reference, and to assess whether WordPress is a suitable tool for managing it.
